I built Calorie.one alone and from scratch — the backend, the app, and the USDA data pipeline the numbers are looked up in. It exists because I was tired of calorie apps that hand you a total without showing where it came from. That is why every analysis here can be unfolded down to the ingredient lines, and why each line is labeled with its source.
The one design decision everything else follows from: the AI is allowed to recognise food and estimate grams, and nothing else. Every calorie, protein, fat and carbohydrate figure is read from a USDA FoodData Central record and shown next to the line it came from, so a number on this site can always be traced to a public source and checked. The articles and the food calorie tables are written and maintained by me, from the same USDA data the app uses. If a figure looks wrong, the FDC record ID next to it is the fastest way to check — and the contact page is the fastest way to tell me.
