What calorie.one is — and isn't
Calorie.one estimates the calories and macros in what you eat, using AI to read your description or photo and a public food database (USDA FoodData Central) for the numbers. Estimates are labeled by source, and an estimate — even a good one — is not a measurement.
This is a general wellness tool, not a medical service. Nothing in the app — numbers, scores, or anything the AI coach says — is medical or dietetic advice, and none of it is meant to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If you have a medical condition, an eating disorder history, are pregnant, or are advised on nutrition by a professional, follow your professional — not an app.
When you use the analysis or the coach, you are interacting with an AI system, and the app says so where it happens. AI output can be wrong; every line stays editable so you can correct it.
Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, we encourage you to involve a parent or guardian. Calorie counting is not appropriate for everyone — if tracking food makes your relationship with eating worse, stop, and talk to someone.
Your account and your data
You are responsible for your login; we authenticate through Clerk. What we store and why is covered — completely — by the privacy policy, which is part of these terms. You can export everything as a file and delete everything permanently, both from your profile, both without asking us.
Foods you add to the shared database
You can add a food that is missing, and it becomes searchable for everyone. Only add numbers you have actually read off a packet or a reliable source — other people will eat according to them. Entries are checked against their own macros on the way in and can be reported by anyone, and we may hide, correct or merge one.
Two things follow from other people relying on it. Once someone else has logged a food you added, you can no longer edit it — their meal history was priced from those numbers — and a correction goes through a report instead. And the entry stays in the database if you delete your account, with your name removed. You keep no claim over it; by adding it you allow us and everyone else to keep using it. Nutrition figures are facts about food and not something anyone can own, but this says so plainly rather than leaving it to be argued about later.
Your recipes
A recipe you save is yours and stays private — no other account can see it, and we do not add it to the shared food database. It is deleted with your account, unlike a food you contribute.
Fair use
Don’t abuse the service: no scraping, no reselling the analysis, no attempts to break authentication or other users’ privacy, no flooding the free demo. We may close accounts that do.
Liability
The service is provided as-is. We work hard on accuracy — the entire product is built around checkable numbers — but we cannot guarantee any estimate, and we are not liable for decisions made on the basis of one. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes and contact
If these terms change materially, the date above changes and logged-in users are told in the app. Danish law applies. Questions: hello@calorie.one.
